May Update

Good news this month: the BBC have decided to include us in the programme ‘Britain in Bloom’; we had our first filming day with them when we planted up the containers and barrier baskets with summer bedding. It was a fantastic day; the sun shone and it was wonderful to work with members of the ‘Health Champions’ and pupils from Castle Hill primary school. They all helped with the planting and were naturals in front of the camera.

The team is currently putting a lot of effort into clearing overgrown areas of Patmos, where we intend to create a stumpery and fern area to remember the famous fern specialist Abraham Stansfield, citizen of Todmorden. We have the help of the British legion in this enterprise.

We helped to boost funds with a market stall selling plants, some of which were kindly donated; others we recycled from Patmos garden, where we have been thinning out overgrown areas.
